How do I get Itunes to connect to the internet?

My Itunes Store won’t open.It gives me the message “Itunes could not connect to the Itunes Store. The Network Connection has timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again.”
I don’t even know what it means by my network settings. I have no idea how to change them or where I would find them on my computer. I also have no idea how to find my firewall to see if it is blocking Itunes.
Someone please help me.

i’m pretty tech savvy, but not when it comes it these things. however i know that firewall icons can be found in the lower right hand tray of your monitor screen… where the time usually is. you could hover with your mouse over the icons to see which is… security, etc. then click. the word varies and depends on what the name of your antivirus/firewall system is. you could also try going to the start menu into all programs and look for anything relating to your security system…
i wish i could be of more help, but have you tried restarting your computer? that always seems to solve problems for me.
