How can I get iTunes to recognize my request to not manage music manually?

techwriterinusa asked:
I have iTunes 7 installed, and have a 60GB Gen5 iPod. My laptop recently crashed, so I purchased iPodCopy to get the music back from my iPod onto my computer. However, iTunes is being dumb in that now it won’t let me UNcheck the Manually Manage Music checkbox. When I uncheck it, I get the warning message. Then I click Apply and nothing happens. Then about 3 seconds later, the Manually manage box is checked again.
How do I get my iPod to sync with iTunes automatically again?
Here’s a guy who never even went to college, making over $100,000 a year with his home computer!

Besides organising your Itunes files ipod copy makes sure that it is the program that controls Itunes and your pod ..One thing you could do is open it ( ipod copy ) and then open the options menu , make sure that “ask before opening Itunes ” is not checked off ..Then close it ..You might have to make sure it is totaly closed . IF your running widows XP press the ” alt control ,delete ” keys to bring up your windows task manager window , in the processes window find Ipod copy . exe and right click on it and end the process ..
After you do that open Itunes and check to see if it will now allow you to do this .
Ipod copy and similar programs bascially set them selves up to control your Ipod when it’s connected , which normaly would be Itunes job .. so closing the application might help …
Once your sure Ipod copy is not running open Itunes do not connect your pod yet , once Itunes is open connect your Ipod and let Itunes recoginse it .. make sure Ipod copy does not open …then try to change your settings again if that won’t work then eject your Ipod and install Itunes again and then go to your C/ program files/ Itunes/ folder and open it using the logo there .. and after it opens connect your Ipod and try once more .
I am thinking the whole problem is with Ipod copy and not Itunes as it does gain control over the IPod when it connects in order to be able to manipltale your Itunes files .. so when ever you connet your ipod unless you want to use Ipod copy make sure its not running and doing a fresh install of Itunes may over ride it .. another thing you can look for is in Itunes click on edit then prefferences and then advanced make sure keep itunes music folder organized is checked ..
I will come back and see if you leave any additional comments but hopefully this will work …
good luck .. remember open Itunes first before connecting your IPOD therefore letting you decide what program is going to be in charge …sort of …
